The Maine Legislature is considering putting a $25 million transportation bond on the November 2015 ballot for expanding passenger rail service in Maine. The bond would be used to provide passenger train service connecting Portland and Lewiston-Auburn.
This investment is an important first step in expanding passenger rail service across the state west to Bethel and Fryeburg, and north to Bangor. This bond could leverage up to $100 million in federal matching funds.
The opportunity for all of Maine to experience the economic and environmental benefits of passenger trains is at hand.
We need your help to make this happen. Please send a message to Maine Governor Paul LePage.
