Climate Summit
Virginia Capitol Building

Join Virginia Conservation Network, Appalachian Voices, Chesapeake Climate Action Network, Environment Virginia, Southern Environmental Law Center and the Sierra Club on Saturday, December 7 for lunch and an open discussion on building a winning climate change movement in Virginia.

This is a pivotal moment in the fight against climate change in Virginia. We have just elected a new Governor and Lt. Governor who understand that climate change is real.

We need to act now to consolidate these election gains with real action.

  • Together, we can build a climate movement in Virginia that broadens our base to include Democrats, Republicans and Independents.

  • Together, we can insure that our Congressional Delegation supports EPA action to limit carbon pollution and advance renewable energy.

  • Together, we can convince Governor-elect Terry McAuliffe and the General Assembly to take action to adapt to the sea level rise that threatens Virginia Beach and over three million Virginians who call the coast home.

This Climate Summit is directed at building a movement in Virginia that can set priorities by consensus and coordinate actions to achieve those priorities. This is not about forming a new group, but rather about establishing a structure and process through which we can communicate to all climate activists in the state, set shared priorities and take effective action to win real climate victories in our Commonwealth. This is a job far bigger than any one organization can tackle, far bigger than our environmental community alone can achieve. At this Climate Summit, we, all of us, will begin a frank discussion about how we can win concrete victories in Virginia to protect our climate.

Space is limited to 133; pre-registration is encouraged.
