We invite you to join Sierra Club California, Center for Biological Diversity, Credo, Clean Water Action, 350.Org and other organizations for our Fracking Moratorium/EIR Rally on December 10th, 2013 at the Oakland Convention Center.
Now is the time to tell Governor Brown that Californians demand that he place the health of our communities and the environment above corporate profits!
California’s Division of Oil, Gas, & Geothermal Resources (DOGGR) is conducting a series of statewide Environmental Impact Report (EIR) Scoping hearings to determine what environmental impacts will be considered when it comes to oil and gas development. Impacts will include fracking and other types of “well stimulation,” as part of the controversial fracking legislation (SB4) signed by Governor Brown earlier this year.
The first of these hearings takes place in Oakland, California on December 10th 2013.
At 5:30pm we’ll gather outside of the Oakland Convention Center to raise our voices in favor of a statewide moratorium on fracking. We’ll encourage Governor Brown to rethink his position on fracking through a variety of songs and signs. Then we'll go inside to tell state regulators (DOGGR) that a fracking moratorium needs to be included in the state's Environmental Impact Report and that the EIR must also include the indirect but very real consequences of unconventional oil and gas exploration and development.
Wear your Sierra Club gear and show the people of California and our elected representatives that when it comes to protecting our communities and our environment the Sierra Club shows up, stands up and speaks up!
RVSP prefered, but not required. Please click the RSVP button, or email email@example.com if you have any questions.
