Green Routes for RI Communities
The world's scientists say we need to cut carbon emissions 80% by 2050 - that's two percent per year. We can only solve global climate change if we drive down the pollution from our cars. But fuel-efficiency for our cars alone will not get us to our goal. We need better ways to get between home, work, school, and the shops. We need not only "green homes", but "green routes." We need green transportation choices, like transit, safe bicycle lanes, and safe sidewalks. Fortunately, most of these improvements don't need to wait for Congress. We can start at the Grassroots level.
Wanna do something about Green Routes in your community? Well, the Number-One way to build a grassroots movement is to talk to your friends and neighbors. Invite them over to your house and start the discussion. It's easiest if you make it potluck. Add some fun in with some popcorn by screening the film, Taken for a Ride.
