Thanks to the activists who hosted or attended Lightbulbs to Leadership house parties on July 17, our campaign was a huge success! More than 1,000 people attended 250 parties across the U.S., all to take action on global warming and green jobs.
Together, we accomplished a major goal: Telling all 50 governors that investing in clean energy and green job development is the way to fight global warming and boost the economy.
On the national conference call, Washington Governor Chris Gregoire explained how, in only a few years, her state went from off-the-radar in clean energy to becoming the 3rd largest producer of wind and solar energy in the nation. Earlier in the day, former Vice President Gore gave an important speech on energy and his message echoed ours: It's time to move beyond changing our lightbulbs to demanding real leadership on global warming.
We also heard from many of you how great it was to be around like-minded folks:
"My favorite moment was when I looked around and saw that everyone was engaged in lively discussion about our environmental crisis, and feeling hopeful about our ability to work together on it." --Catherine G., Hollis, NH.
"A house party makes the (letter-writing) process more like fun than a chore…It was great having the phone conference for inspiration. The speakers were great - especially the call from Governor Chris Gregoire of Washington State." --Lillian H., Houston, TX.
"Gov. Gregoire was amazing in her accomplishments and optimism. The other great moment was after the call, when people in our small group who did not know each other before started finding great areas of mutual interest." --Haywood M., Lafayette, CA.

Thanks for all you do to protect the planet!
