Speak up for the protection of the threatened marbled murrelet!

Imagine a creature as stealthy as a lynx, that swims in the sea, flies like a bat, and eats fish to its heart's content. Across the Pacific Northwest, the elusive and amazing marbled murrelet is rapidly disappearing from our forests.
This incredible coastal seabird traverses a multitude of habitats and requires clean water and mature forests to thrive. Unfortunately, much of its mature coastal forest home has been logged and fragmented by development.
After years of delay, it's time for the State of Washington to finally create a long-term plan for saving this iconic bird before it's too late. But the marbled murrelet can't speak for itself -- it needs our voices before it is too late.
Nearly a decade ago, marbled murrelets were losing ground quickly, prompting the federal government to list them as a "threatened" species under the Endangered Species Act. Since then, the marbled murrelet population in the forests of the Pacific Northwest has declined at an alarming rate -- over 30% of the population has disappeared in just the last 10 years.1
Luckily, DNR cannot delay any longer and is finally calling on our communities to speak up and help shape the future of conservation for these birds. This is our chance to write a new chapter for this threatened species.
