Dear
Say no to new coal plants in Georgia! |
Don't let a new coal-fired power plant be built in Georgia!
POWER4Georgians haven't been able to start building a new coal plant – Plant Washington – even though they’ve had 18 almost months to do so. So now, Governor Deal's long-time friends want a helping hand from the Deal administration by getting an extension of the plant's construction permit from the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD).
The company has had permits denied and rejected by courts, and lost the support of all of its original backers -- no one wants this plant built. They don't deserve a second chance to build a coal plant when we could be investing in wind and solar instead!
POWER4Georgians have repeatedly failed to prove they can meet new and existing safeguards created to protect Georgians from dirty coal pollution at their proposed coal-fired power plant in Sandersville.1 POWER4Georgians have already applied for a permit extension and the Georgia EPS could approve it without public input if we don’t speak up!
Thanks for all you do to protect the environment,
