"This is something that is important for all of us. As parents, as grandparents, as citizens, as folks who care about the health of our families and also want to make sure that future generations are able to enjoy this beautiful blue ball in the middle of space that we’re a part of."

Support Clean Power Plan!
Reduce Arizona's Carbon Emissions

Earlier this summer, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proposed new carbon pollution reduction goals for existing power plants. These goals create a good framework that will enable Arizona to use a combination of energy efficiency, renewable energy, and coal plant retirements to develop a solid plan for reducing carbon emissions. This is an important step in beginning to address one of the biggest challenges we face: global climate change.

Sierra Club is working to strengthen the standard to accurately reflect retirements of dirty power plants and growth rates for clean energy, including renewable energy and energy efficiency. This carbon pollution goal represents an opportunity for our state to be a leader in making the transition to a clean and equitable energy future.

Take Action!
Please comment on the standard now!

Please also watch for additional information on upcoming meetings and workshops to discuss the goals and what we can do locally.

Our first Coffee and Carbon discussion will be on Tuesday, August 26th, at 6:30 p.m. at Fair Trade Cafe, located at 1020 N. 1st Avenue in Phoenix (map).

Do you need to replace any lights in your home? Consider LEDs! These lights use a tiny fraction of the energy consumed by incandescent bulbs, and the purchase cost has decreased significantly.
