Loma Prieta Chapter has produced an important status report on the
current climate protection activities of local governments in Santa
Clara and San Mateo counties. Researched and written by Michael Closson
and Julie Allingham, the 40-page report is based on a survey they
conducted during the winter and spring of 2014. Information for the
report was provided by 33 of the 37 local governments, including 31

our inaugural “Guardians of Nature” benefit in honor of the 50th anniversary of
the Wilderness Act. The benefit raised $10,000 to support the chapter’s

Our
Water Committee has a vision that Coyote Creek is clean and free from
contamination through the collaborative efforts of cities, counties, the
Santa Clara Valley Water District, schools, nonprofit organizations,
faith-based groups, and—most importantly—residents. Our goal this year
to reach this vision is to reduce 100 cubic yards of trash by the end of
December 2014 by collaborating with other groups and to recruit 20
volunteers for creek cleanups. Read article »

Get Involved Protecting Open Space

fall residents of the Santa Clara Valley, the valley of heart’s
delight, have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to protect open space,
clean water, wildlife habitat, and create miles of hiking trails for
current and future generations to enjoy. Measure Q will ensure the Santa
Clara Valley Open Space Authority has the resources it needs to
implement its Greenprint, a 30-year conservation vision. The Measure Q
