Mark Your Calendar for Citizen Lobby Workshops and Environmental Day at the Capitol

Dear Conservation Friends,

I just wanted to remind you that Environmental Day at the Capitol is going to be a little earlier this year, so please mark your calendar and get signed up so we can assign you to a team. Also, we now have two citizen lobby workshops scheduled, so take a look at those and please let your friends know about them, as well. We are still working on scheduling additional workshops in other parts of the state.

The 2015 Arizona Legislative Session is just around the corner. It starts on January 12 with a State of the State address by Governor-elect Ducey. We are not sure what his environmental agenda will be. We do expect this to be a challenging legislative session for environmental protection, however. We will again be providing a watchdog function at the Legislature – working to stop bad policies and promoting a few good ones, as well – and will be keeping you informed via regular legislative updates and alerts, briefings, and more.

Make a Difference in 2015 – and Beyond!

Are you ready to make a difference? Are you interested in helping to protect Arizona’s air, land, water, and wildlife? Would you like to help promote clean energy? Please join us for this fun and informative workshop. Arizona needs more advocates who are willing to meet with legislators, city council people, county supervisors, and other officials who have enormous impact on our future and on what kind of legacy we leave for future generations. The workshop runs two hours and covers the basics on the Arizona Legislature, how a bill becomes a law, how a bill really becomes a law, and Dos and Don'ts of Citizen Lobbying, plus an opportunity to role-play a lobby visit.

On January 22, 2015, environmental advocates from throughout the state, new and experienced, will be gathering at the Arizona State Capitol to meet with state legislators to express support for clean air, clean energy, and clean water, as well as land conservation, and more. Come be part of one of our teams!

Everyone will be part of a team with an experienced leader and will be meeting with his or her own legislators, whenever possible. You can come for an hour or two or stay all day. It is a great opportunity to learn more about the legislative process and the issues and to make a difference.
