1) Take Action: Stop Building the Wall
Border WallThe border wall along our southern international border has bisected communities, separated families and caused damaging floods. Hundreds of miles of wall have been built through federally protected lands, fracturing wildlife habitat and scarring the landscape. These lands are part of America's wild legacy, and are of significant ecological, educational, historic, cultural, recreational and economic value to the United States and its people.

This week marks the one year anniversary of the Bush Administration's controversial waiver of dozens of federal laws to speed up border wall construction.

2) Take Action: Pass a Budget for a Brighter Future
BudgetPresident Obama's proposed federal budget will rebuild and renew our economy by setting the right priorities for America: invest in clean energy to create millions of new green jobs, fight global warming, and end our dependence on oil.

Tell Congress to pass a budget that reflects a new direction for our country's energy policy, a budget that takes the first step to finally tackling the issue of climate change and spurs our clean energy economy.

3) César Chávez: Sí Se Puede
Cesar ChavezAs founder of the United Farm Workers, labor and environment leader César Chávez worked to gain rights for farmworkers and to ensure healthier communities for all people. Chávez linked people and the environment, teaching us that we all have a right to live in a healthy and safe environment - no matter who we are or where we were born.

As we celebrate his birthday and his memory, Sierra Club supports the creation of a national holiday in his honor.

4) Climate and Energy: Legislation Moving Forward in the House
Clean EnergyToday, Representative Henry Waxman (D-CA), the Chair of the House Energy & Commerce Committee, released draft comprehensive clean energy and climate legislation that he and Representative Ed Markey (D-MA) intend to move through their committee by Memorial Day.

The bill outlines a long-term vision that will transform our economy and move us past the dirty fuels of yesterday toward the clean energy technologies that will repower, refuel, and rebuild our economy. It will establish a cap on global warming pollution and requirements for renewable energy, energy efficiency and clean fuels. Momentum for strong action on climate has never been greater and Chairmen Waxman and Markey have provided a strong starting point for delivering the global warming solutions we need.
