One of the most popular online stories the Sierra Club has ever posted was about which gas you should buy when you fill your tank. But what about the car you buy that gas for? Everyone knows SUVs aren't exactly the best choice for planet-loving people, but which are the cleanest, greenest machines?
Regular readers of "The Green Life" will have seen the list from the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy of "The Greenest Vehicles of 2007." Guess what? Their top pick is not a hybrid. On the other hand, it's not exactly run-of-the mill, either.
Did your car make the top twelve?

The Sierra Club's Lone Star Chapter was the lead organizer of a February 11 rally at which 2,000 Texans gathered on the steps of the State Capitol in Austin, calling for smart energy solutions and a moratorium on permitting new coal-fired plants.
Sure, we're about as biased as you can get, but we love Sierra Club Radio. We love how easy it is to subscribe to it on our iPods. We love Orli Cotel's way with an interview. We even love the funky theme music. But we especially love the top-notch guests who've been showing up to talk about all things environmental. Last Saturday, it was Steven Page of the band Bare Naked Ladies, who are going green with their Bare Naked Planet tour by biodiesel bus. And the week before, it was Davis Guggenheim, whose Oscar-nominated film actually turned Al Gore into a movie star. Missed these shows? The good news is you can still hear them online and, if you haven't signed up for the podcast, you can do it with just a click or two here.
So tune in -- coming up next week is an interview with Hollywood's greenest star, Ed Begley Jr.

Their aim is to strengthen the environmental community in China and promote good governance solutions to improve air and water quality and investment in sustainable energy.
Earlier this year, Sierra Club Executive Director Carl Pope met with His Excellency Zhou Wenzhong, Ambassador to the United States from the People's Republic of China, at a dinner in Washington, D.C., where he shared the Sierra Club's desire to both learn and teach in China.
"Along with the U.S., China and India are the most important nations in shaping the future of the world's energy economy," said Pope. A Sierra Club partnership program in India is expected to be announced later this year.
