Dear Friend,
If there was a time to get involved with the work of the Sierra Club, it would be now! We have a new, short survey about transit use in Rhode Island, a few events coming up, and volunteer opportunities to be had. So step right up folks. Get on board the Activist Express!
| 1) 2-minute Survey on Transportation Choices |
|
There are at least two studies going on right now that are looking at the future of Rhode Island's transportation choices: The Providence Metro Area Transit Study and the Aquidneck Island Multi-modal Transportation Study.
But we want to hear from you about how to improve the transportation choices in your neck of the woods so that we can kick the addiction to oil and solve global warming. We have a short, easy survey (only 4 questions) to get a sense of the obstacles to using cleaner, more efficient transportation choices.
Take the Survey! |
| 2) Spring for Transportation Choices, May 14th 7:00pm |
|
Are you enjoying the flowers as much as I am? I hope you are getting out to enjoy your favorite natural areas.
In the meantime, we thought we'd throw a spring party to give you the opportunity to jump aboard the Club's programs to expand our bus and bicycle system in Rhode Island. Oh, and it just happens to be during National Bicycle Week. And we'll be screening the film, Taken for a Ride.
Let us know you're coming!

| 3) 10 Minutes for Change? |
10 Minutes for Change is a weekly open house for activists every Wednesday at the Sierra Club. If you have 10 minutes or 2 hours to donate to help the Sierra Club get our work done, come on by. We'll have snacks, drinks and things to do. This week, we're making phone calls to members in key districts. So, come on by for 10 minutes or half an hour. |
| 4) What are Cool CATs? |
Cool CATs are the Sierra Club's Cool Cities Community Action Teams. Cool Cities or Cool Communities are those local governments that sign on to the U.S. Mayors Climate Protection Agreement. Sierra Club Community Action Teams are teams of volunteer activists who work together to build environmental communities by hosting house parties, going door to door with our message, or participating in phone banks.
|
Thank you for signing up for Cool CATs Weekly. Sierra Club volunteers are working in Newport, North Kingstown and Barrington to make one of those communities the next Cool City or Town. Feel free to contact us if you would like to make your city Cool.
Sincerely,
Chris Wilhite Sierra Club Rhode Island Chapter |
To get a better sense of the transit needs of our members and supporters, we invite you to fill out this survey. We hope to better craft our message for our next action alert to RIPTA.
