EPA Holds Hearings on Global Warming, Public Health
Hundreds to Turn Out to Support Strong Action

Washington, DC: The Environmental Protection Agency will be holding two public hearings to hear comments on the Agency’s recent finding that carbon dioxide and other global warming pollution present a danger to public health and welfare. This “endangerment” finding is the first step toward regulating global warming pollution from coal plants, cars and other major polluters and the first major piece in the Sierra Club’s Big Picture Campaign (www.sierraclub.org/bigpicture). 

WHAT: Public hearings on the EPA’s “endangerment” finding in Arlington, VA and Seattle, WA. Business, faith and government leaders, Keely and Pierce Brosnan, hundreds of concerned citizens will turn out to support the EPA’s decision and call for strong action on global warming. (Both hearings are already completely full, but according to the EPA no one will be turned away)

May 18th, Arlington, VA
Hearing, 9 a.m. 8 p.m.
Press Conference, 12:30 p.m.
Keely and Pierce Brosnan testimony, 4 p.m.

May 21st, Seattle, WA
 Hearing, 8 a.m. 9 p.m.
 Rally, Noon

Activists from across the Northwest gather to rally to support action on climate, clean energy jobs and a coal free northwest. Speakers include:
 - Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels, KC Golden;
 - Evan Kanter, President of Physicians for Social Responsibility;
 - Martha Kongsgaard-Goldman, co-chair of Puget Sound Partnership;
 - David Nokociv, Portland State University;
 - 1 Sky/Climate Solutions and others.
