Explore, Enjoy and Protect the Planet
Dear
Tell the Governor and your state legislators that you want them to keep our California parks open.
The Governor's proposal to cut State Parks will be devastating and have the effect of virtually shutting down the entire park system. This will deny access to millions of Californians who rely on State Parks for outdoor recreation and vacations, weaken much-needed tourism revenue for local businesses, cities and the state, and lay-off thousands of dedicated State Park employees during the current economic downturn.
This is exactly the wrong time to be proposing to eliminate the state's funding for this world-class resource. Not only would removing the state's financial support for State Parks close the park system, it would cause an additional economic ripple effect to the state's budget and to local economies.
Please contact the Governor and your state legislators today and urge them to keep California's parks open.
If the parks are closed, the state will lose the ability to generate revenue from popular parks, which drives local economies. For every $1 spent within the State Park system, $2.35 is returned to the state's General Fund, largely through economic activities in communities surrounding State Parks.
Please take action now by contacting the Governor and your state legislators to voice your opinion against this proposal that would result to the closing of 220 State Parks.
Sincerely,
Annie Pham
Legislative Aide
P.S. Please forward this to your friends and family and ask them to take action too!
