The Georgia Chapter of the Sierra Club Thanks its Donors for their Continued Support
As the sun set over a magnificent view of Kennesaw Mountain and fireflies began to twinkle in the sky, guests departed from the historic Glenridge Hall, reflecting back on the many wonderful delights they had experienced that evening. Certified organic Malbec and Torrentes wines provided by Yellow + Blue, an environmentally-friendly spread of foods provided by Masterpiece Events, LLC, delicious cookies and miniature cheese cakes provided by Sandy and Walter Kruger, perfectly manicured gardens with an abundance of early summer blooms, 47 acres of woodland, a 1929 historic home, and a moving speech by Sanjay Ranchod from the National Sierra Club Board of Directors about the current legislation that will make a marked impact on our nation’s most critical environmental crisis were only some of the treats that donors received at the Georgia Chapter’s annual Donor Appreciation Celebration on Saturday, June 6, 2009.
The Fundraising Committee of the Georgia Chapter of the Sierra Club hosted the Donor Appreciation Celebration at the beautiful Glenridge Hall near Atlanta. After the more than 50 guests had the chance to visit with old friends and make new ones, Sanjay Ranchod addressed the guests about the most important piece of legislation currently before the United States Congress. Sanjay enlightened listeners about the American Clean Energy and Security Act (also known as the Waxman-Markey Act), which is presently working its way through various Congressional committees, and Sanjay explained why this Act is so critical to responding to the global warming crisis. Sanjay spoke about why all titles of the Act are critical to its success and why the economy must fundamentally change in order to successfully decrease emissions of heat-trapping pollutants.
All in all, the night was a success. The Donor Appreciation Celebration is held annually for donors of the Georgia Chapter of the Sierra Club in the Georgia Chapter's Giving Society. In order to be invited for the next celebration please click here to review Giving Society levels and donate now. You don't want to miss out!
