Dear ,Friend,
Here's what's in this week's edition of CoolCATs Weekly:
1) Do you "Climate Crossroads"?
2) High-Speed Rail in New England?
3) Wilhite's Blog: Prosperity in RI
1) Did you know about Climate Crossroads? |
The Sierra Club is officially in the 21st Century, complete withour own social networking sites. We want our members and supporters to be able to connect with others and stay connected to the Club in our efforts to enjoy, explore and protect the planet.
Climate Crossroads is a social network for like-minded people in search of climate change solutions, with tips, actions, events, and recipes to help stop global warming.
Link up with Rhode Island Chapter leaders and see our blogs, groups and more. |
2) High-Speed Rail in New England? |
The New York Times pointed out last Friday, that America's rail system is way behind the race. Other First World countries have high-speed trains that exceed 130 mph. So why is America so slow? And the new energy economy can help us create jobs and become energy independent. Surely, America can do better.
Write a letter to the editor of your paper and ask the question, "Why don't we have better mass transit in America?

3) Wilhite's Blog: Laying the Tracks for Prosperity in RI |

First, every single drop of energy used in Rhode Island, be it electricity, heat or motorization, is imported from other places. Read more>> |
4) What are CoolCATs? |
Cool CATs are the Sierra Club's Cool Cities Community Action Teams. Cool Cities or Cool Communities are those local governments that sign on to the U.S. Mayors Climate Protection Agreement. Sierra Club Community Action Teams are teams of volunteer activists who work together to build environmental communities by hosting house parties, going door to door with our message, or participating in phone banks. |
Thank you for signing up for Cool CATs Weekly. You can make your community "Cool" by advocating for renewable power, green buildings and transportation choices. Visit the Cool Cities website for resources and toolkits. Sincerely, Chris Wilhite Sierra Club Rhode Island Chapter |
