Dear Friend,

Will you press for leadership on Climate Change by taking the following message to our elected leaders?

We demand that the United States demonstrates leadership and responsibility by facilitating and negotiating a science-based and internationally enforceable greenhouse gas emissions treaty at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, December 7-18, 2009. Atmospheric carbon dioxide must be reduced from 389 parts per millions to below 350 in order to prevent a catastrophic social, economic and environmental crisis.

Atmospheric carbon dioxide must be reduced from 389 parts per millions to below 350 in order to prevent a catastrophic social, economic and environmental crisis.

Why 350? At 389 parts per million of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere today, the earth is too warm to sustain life as we know it. Scientific information says that to regain our atmospheric balance we must bring that number down to 350.

Here are actions you can take to Stop Climate Change Now:

The next two months are critical! We must insist on effective climate measures and embolden President Obama in climate negotiations here at home and in Copenhagen.

Thank you for taking action!

Sincerely,
Susan Lawrence, Chair, Sierra Club Atlantic Chapter
