What is the meaning of LIFE? Glad you asked. It's the Discovery Channel's follow-up to the wildly popular Planet Earth series. If you're interested in the spectacular, bizarre, and fascinating behaviors that creatures like fruit bats, Komodo dragons, and humpback whales have evolved in order to thrive, then you'll love this show -- narrated by Oprah Winfrey -- when it premieres later this month.
Want to be one of the first to see what LIFE has to offer? To help raise awareness of the need to protect all species and their habitat from the effects of climate change, the Sierra Club and Discovery Channel are teaming up to organize House Parties for WildLIFE in advance of the premiere.
Sign up to host by Wednesday, March 10, invite at least three guests, and we'll send you a sneak-peek DVD along with tips for holding a successful party and materials so you and your guests can discuss what you learned and take action.

Imagine a summer internship where you get to travel for free around the country hiking, rafting, and enjoying the outdoors. Sounds great, right? Suppose it also included a $2,500 stipend and $2,000 worth of gear from The North Face and Planet Explore? All right, stop imagining and start applying -- because it's for real!
The Sierra Club's Outdoors Youth Ambassador intern will spend eight weeks this summer on different Sierra Club outings sponsored by our Inner City Outings, Building Bridges to the Outdoors, and Volunteer Vacations programs while video blogging the experience. Learn more about what we think is The Best Internship on Earth.
Already have plans this summer? Then spread the word to anyone you know who could use a once-in-a-lifetime experience, because the application deadline is April 1.

Do you think Avatar could win Best Picture at the Oscars on Sunday?
We have to admit, we'll be rooting for it (and not just because of the awesome special effects). Watch our video to find out why.
This week, the Sierra Club is joining forces with dozens of other organizations in a "72 Hours for Clean American Power" call-in to the U.S. Senate. The goal is to let our senators know that we don't want to wait another year for action on clean-energy and climate legislation that creates jobs, builds our economy, makes our country more secure, and protects our planet.
This call-in is only scheduled to last through Wednesday, so we've made it super easy to take part. Our clean-energy future is on the line -- now pick up the phone!
Colin Summers drives a fuel-efficient Prius, but his wife has put 57,000 miles on her car without buying any gas at all.
Learn about life for an electric vehicle owner in the land where the freeway rules in Colin's chat with the Crossroads Curator.
We've also added a new treat to our virtual icebox: a "How Green?" food widget that we developed with a lot of help from our friends at GoodGuide. Ever wonder which organic yogurt or creamy peanut butter rocks the planet in a good way? Now you'll know.
