Sierra Club 101

Sierra Club 101Have you always wondered on how to get more involved with the Sierra Club but not sure how? Do you have a desire to learn more about how to get involved with Sierra Club outings, conservation issues or other volunteer opportunities? Do you just want to learn more about the environment or meet other like-minded individuals? If you answered yes to any of these questions, Sierra Club 101 is the right place for you.

Throughout the year, the Georgia Chapter of the Sierra Club hosts Sierra Club 101s as a crash course for interested individuals. The 101 features a presentation about the Sierra Club and the opportunities on how to get involved. We strongly encourage new members to attend. However, if you are a long-time member or just an interested individual please join us. Feel free to bring friends and family.

You will be able to meet with volunteer leaders and staff who can answer any questions you might have. Visit us here at the Georgia Chapter and learn about our current conservation issues. Collect Sierra Club and environmental materials to become more informed. Also, breakfast will be provided!

Sierra Club 101Start off your weekend right and join us for Saturday, April 10th at 10a.m. for your crash course on the Club. For questions or to RSVP, contact Ashley Robbins at ashley.robbins@georgia.sierraclub.org. To learn more about the Sierra Club 101, please click here.

Florida Cooter - Dirk J. StevensonProtect Georgia’s fresh water turtles! The fresh water turtles of Georgia are about to be faced with a new and serious threat. The growth of the Asian gourmet food market has made turtle meat a very valuable product. It has become so valuable that the wild turtle populations have been decimated on the Asian mainland. With large turtle populations, the states of the Southeastern United States are becoming the next best target of commercial trappers. Take action now by calling, writing or emailing the chairpersons of the Senate Committee involved to help protect our freshwater turtles.

   Support Your Chapter

The opportunity we have been hoping for is here! With your support we hope to build a smart energy future for Georgia. We will work to reduce our dependence on dirty fossil fuels and increase use of clean, smart technology. We will fight to stop new coal-fired power plants from being built and to clean-up air pollution from old ones.
