PRESS EVENT FOR 12:30 PM WEDNESDAY, MAY 26, 2010:
NATIONAL LEADERS URGE WHITE HOUSE AND SENATE ACTION
IN RESPONSE TO GULF COAST OIL DISASTER ON CAPITOL HILL

Washington – In response to the Gulf Coast oil disaster, national leaders are calling on President Obama and Senate leaders to move forward with comprehensive clean energy solutions for America at a press event on Capitol Hill. As millions of gallons of oil continue to surge into the Gulf Coast and oil washes up on its shores, America needs policies that will cut our nation’s dependence on oil, limit pollution and lead to clean, safe American energy sources.

The Gulf Coast disaster is a symptom of America’s failed national energy policy. The groups are urging that the White House and Congress continue to hold BP accountable for the disaster while addressing the true cause of this catastrophe by enacting a comprehensive clean energy and climate policy that reduces our oil dependence, cuts pollution and enhances our security.
