"And I don't sit around just talking to experts because this is a college seminar. We talk to these folks because they potentially have the best answers so I know whose ass to kick, right?

-- President Obama on response efforts to the BP disaster

1) Take Action: Defeat the Big Oil Bailout Clean Air
The Senate could vote as early as Thursday on a resolution introduced by Sen. Murkowski (R-AK) that would undermine the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) ability to enforce limits on global warming pollution under the Clean Air Act -- limits reaffirmed by the Supreme Court almost three years ago. The resolution would have a profound impact on progress towards a cleaner energy economy and would amount to a bailout for polluters like the oil and coal industries.

2) Take Action: Move Us Beyond Oil Beyond OIl
The BP oil disaster in the Gulf is a tragic reminder of our addiction to oil. We can eliminate our dependence on oil by making advanced vehicles that run on clean alternative fuels and providing transportation choices that eliminate the need to drive and make our communities more convenient.

Call on Congress to move us beyond oil!

3) Update: BP DisasterBeyond OIl
The latest photos of oil covered birds and animals coming from the Gulf Coast are driving home the impact of the disaster for many living far away from the coast. As oil continues to pour into the Gulf, though possibly at a slower rate thanks to the 'top hat', we’re launching a new effort to help everyone, even those not in coastal areas, make their voice heard on the disaster.

We're kicking off our effort with a new website and an ad in today's The Hill newspaper and will following up with more ways for people to get involved, videos and even a short documentary film.

Stay tuned to find out how you can help.

4) Good News: Millions for Weatherization Millions
The U.S. Department of Energy has awarded $29 million to organizations in 27 states to train workers to weatherize buildings. The expanded effort, stemming from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, will build on successful work to improve energy efficiency in nearly 200,000 homes and help create much needed clean energy jobs.
