"The issue isn't black and white. We’re really having to engage the ambiguity of this, and as the impact rolls out in terms of the economy, stewardship and relationships, the strains will be deeply spiritual, and will be very personal, too..."

-- Rev. Lisa Hunt of St. Stephen’s Church in Houston, Texas, speaking about the oil disaster at a June 24th vigil.

1) Take Action: Tell President Obama to Move Us Beyond Oil Beyond Oil
Last Saturday, tens of thousands of people across the world gathered and joined hands to say no to offshore drilling and yes to clean energy during Hands Across the Sand. At over 900 events in 39 countries, including events in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico, the world sent an enormous message to Big Oil and to President Obama

. In the midst of the worst environmental disaster our country has seen, it has become clear to that oil is a dirty energy of the past and we can no longer delay the clean energy future.

2) Take Action: End Our Oil Dependence – Increase Options for Safe Walking & Biking Bikes
The BP Disaster in the Gulf is a tragic reminder that we must end our addiction to oil. Each day the US transportation sector guzzles nearly 14 million barrels of oil. Increasing options for walking and biking can reduce our oil consumption and make communities more convenient and livable.

Ask your representative to support active transportation, such as biking and walking, by cosponsoring H.R. 4722, the Active Community Transportation Act of 2010.
