US EPA AGREES - BOARDMAN IS DIRTY AND DANGEROUS! In early October, Portland General Electric (PGE) got a rude awakening: the federal Environmental Protection Agency told them they have been operating in violation of Clean Air Act at the Boardman coal plant since 1998. The Sierra Club has been suing PGE over the same issue since 2008. Please click here to contact the Governor and DEQ today and urge them to ensure that PGE closes the dirty Boardman coal plant as soon as possible. |

TAKE ACTION TO PROTECT SAGE GROUSE! Sage Grouse are in decline, largely due to the the loss of intact and uninterrupted sagebrush habitat. The Sage Grouse is currently considered to be warranted for listing as an endangered species, and the ODFW is developing a plan intended to guide management decisions in a way that will better protect the species. Much of ODFW's proposed plan addresses the need to maintain existing habitat and rehabilitate degraded habitat. The guidelines proposed by the plan will potentially effect siting of energy projects, levels of cattle grazing allowed in sagebrush habitat, as well as other development across eastern Oregon's high deserts. Click here to read more about the plan and offer your comments. ODFW is accepting public comment on the plan through Nov. 15. |
