1) No Wave Here

Well, it's over. The red wave that swept the country last Tuesday and will make federal environmental legislative progress virtually impossible broke upon the shores of Rhode Island. Certainly, there are going to be a lot of new faces at the State House, but most of them had the Chapter's stamp of approval. Most importantly, Linc Chafee promises to be a governor we can actually work with. Sadly, two of the Club's endorsements failed to win reelection, Sen. Chuck Levesque and Rep. Amy Rice, but they will be replaced by the likes of Teresa Tanzi, David Bennett, Spencer Dickinson, Maria Cimini, Chris Blazejewski, and Jay O'Grady. We are also excited that the rest of our incumbents won, and David Cicilline and James Langevin will do a great job in Washington. Moreover, the open space bond was approved resoundingly! All in all, a good day in little Rhody.

2) Unbelievable |
Rarely do the nether world of the US financial system and the the push for transportation reform meet, but they ran into each other literally in Colorado. On July 3, a doctor was biking on the highway when he was the victim of a hit and run. Now, the DA is refusing to prosecute the felony, because the criminal driver is an investment banker who's career is too important to risk with jail time. Sign this petition to ensure justice is done.

3) Complete Streets SK |
The Chapter's Complete Streets Outreach Program has moved into South County. We've got a community meeting coming up a week from today on November 15th at URI's Memorial Union. We'd love to see you there, so we can tell you what it's all about as we work to make South Kingstown the state's first complete streets town.
