Dear
Tell Congress to Cut Subsidies for Corporate Polluters, Not Programs that Protect Our Health. |
How can Republicans in the House endanger the lives of millions of Americans, handcuff the EPA, and give billions in handouts to corporate polluters?
They can use the Continuing Resolution to cut the EPA's budget to a degree we haven't seen in thirty years, making it impossible for the agency to do its job -- protecting our health from Big Oil and Coal pollution.
Tell your members of Congress that we will not stand by while they endanger our lives by cutting critical programs that protect our health and safety.
In contrast to the Republican proposal, the budget released by President Obama makes long-overdue cuts to subsidies for corporate polluters, while investing in the clean energy industries and smart transportation choices that will create the American jobs of the future.
Congress must pass a clean Continuing Resolution that keeps programs vital for the health and well-being of this country.
But cuts to the EPA budget aren't the only threat we're facing in Congress. If Republicans get their way, they'll also use the Continuing Resolution to gut Clean Water Act protections for our drinking water, endanger our wild places, undermine the Endangered Species Act, reduce funding for transportation choices that would cut our oil dependence, and turn the Department of Energy's loan guarantee program into even more of a nuclear energy slush fund.
Congress has a choice to stand for more government handouts for corporate polluters, or to move us forward, creating jobs and the clean energy economy we desperately need -- tell your legislators to choose the right side.
Thanks for all that you do to protect our environment,
