Dear Friend,
Sierra Club members across the Commonwealth, West Virginia and Maryland have a major victory to celebrate along with our allies at Piedmont Environmental Council, Earthjustice, friends and neighbors.
The Potomac Appalachian Trail Highline (PATH) has been suspended. Click here to get your free victory sticker!
Last Monday, our regional grid operator requested that the companies behind PATH (now First Energy and AEP) withdraw their applications -- and so they did! The request cited the results of new tests revealing that the PATH line will not be needed in 2015 as AEP and Allegheny Energy had previously claimed. Sierra Club has been arguing that the line is not needed since it was proposed several years ago.
To celebrate we want to send you a free Beyond Coal Victory Sticker. Click here to get yours today!
Over the last two years, Sierra Clubbers have taken action to prevent this expensive and unnecessary transmission line from marring our countryside and half a dozen national and state parks and protected areas. On top of the dozens of Virginians who attended National Park Service and Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC) hearings, over 1200 people submitted comments with their concerns, and insisted that efficiency and renewable energy are the way to provide for our needs. It paid off!
Help us celebrate the beginning of the end for the PATH line! Get your free Beyond Coal Victory Sticker today.
Our actions are making a difference! Let's keep it up. Get your sticker and show Big Coal that we're ready for a clean energy future.
Thanks for all you do!
Yours truly,
Kate Pollard
