Oregon Chapter - Sierra Club

Welcome to the monthly e-mail newsletter of the Sierra Club's Oregon Chapter!
June 2011 - Issue 27

Logging roads are major sources of pollution in Oregon's forests -- dirtying rivers and streams and harming fish with dangerous sediment. Recently, the federal courts ruled that logging road pollution must be regulated under the Clean Water Act, but some in Congress want to overturn this ruling. This case stemmed from logging road pollution in the Tillamook State Forest, where an extensive road network already pollutes rivers and streams, and where current plans call for roughly 100,000 acres of new clearcutting in coming years and new logging roads. Click here to learn more!

Please email Senators Wyden and Merkley today and urge them to stand up for the Clean Water Act and for reigning in logging road pollution!

Solar Panels

Are you interested in saving $10,000 or more on your energy bills?

It's no gimmick! We're excited to announce that the Oregon Sierra Club has reached a groundbreaking agreement with Tualitan-based RS Energy to provide you and other Sierra Club supporters
with rooftop solar installation rates that almost every Oregon homeowner can afford! Click here to read our press release!

Moving Oregon beyond the use of coal as an energy source has been a key priority for the Sierra Club for years, and this new program is integral to the success of that campaign. We recognize that our own members and citizens across the state have a real opportunity to influence Oregon's future energy mix.

So, the program we've developed guarantees you one of the lowest rooftop solar installation rates in Oregon, packaged in a form that is financially affordable for almost every homeowner.

Interested homeowners will receive a free solar evaluation of their home, and will be presented with a range of affordable solar options tailored to fit a particular homeowner's energy use and financial needs.

Now -- even in rainy Oregon -- you can affordably power your home with solar, save thousands of dollars on your energy bills, and be part of our state's clean energy solution!
