Dear
Tell Your Legislators: |
Last week, Gov. Christie dealt another huge blow to New Jersey's clean energy future by vetoing a bill to keep the Garden State a part of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) -- an agreement by ten northeastern states to cut global warming pollution from power plants.
RGGI is one of our most important initiatives to combat climate change. Since joining, RGGI's programs have cut New Jersey's global warming pollution by 10%!
The good news is the state legislature is fighting back -- planning a vote to override Gov. Christie's veto.
RGGI is reducing air pollution and our state's carbon footprint, supporting thousands of new jobs in the clean energy sector, fighting climate change and helping businesses and residents save energy.
We can't let Gov. Christie throw away all of our progress just to help his coal industry friends keep polluting!
The impacts of climate change on New Jersey are real and serious. As a coastal state, we're extremely vulnerable to sea level rise and storm surges that occur from climate change.
Thanks for all you do to protect our environment!
Sincerely,
Nicole Dallara
