Are you a Southwest Gas or Arizona Public Service (APS) customer? If so, you'll want to speak up on this important issue! Both Southwest Gas and APS are looking at increasing utility rates. Currently, it is in their best interest for their customers -- you and me -- to use more of their product and to pay higher bills. We have a better idea. Rather than just watching rates and energy use continue to climb, we are promoting energy efficiency and decoupling as ways to save customers money, plus to better align the interests of the companies with those of the consumers. Energy efficiency -- the energy you don't use -- is the cleanest energy resource and is also the most cost-effective. Decoupling removes the utility's incentive to encourage energy waste and helps to promote efficiency. The Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) is seeking public comment on both energy efficiency and decoupling in the Southwest Gas and APS rate cases. The ACC and the utilities should be helping Arizonans lower their energy bills. We need your help to make this happen! Please attend one of the following meetings and send a message to the commissioners supporting energy efficiency and decoupling.

The Train's A'Comin'! Imagine traveling between Phoenix and Tucson without having to drive. Not only that, but you could get there in less time and on a set schedule, plus generate less pollution per person! At long last, the idea of a passenger rail line between Phoenix and Tucson may become a reality. But we need your help to get it there! Please attend an open house to share your thoughts and to show our decision-makers that a passenger rail line between these communities is strongly supported. Your voice can make a huge difference! For more information, please visit http://www.azdot.gov/intercityrail or contact Sandy Bahr at (602) 253-8633 or sandy.bahr@sierraclub.org. |
