Take Action: End Tax Breaks for Big Oil Take Action: End Tax Breaks for Big Oil

The highly profitable oil and gas industry gets four billion dollars a year in tax breaks and subsidies. These loopholes, some of which have been in place for nearly a century, are no longer necessary. In fact, high prices at the pump are reflected in the industry's record profits in 2010 and 2011. These subsidies and tax breaks for Big Oil waste taxpayer money, have added to the federal deficit, and keep the U.S. locked into a dirty energy future.

Urge your representative to push the congressional super committee to end tax breaks for Big Oil.

The analysis, from the Union of Concerned Scientists and the Natural Resources Defense Council, features a state-by-state breakdown of total consumer savings at the gas pump and how much money the average family will save in 2030 from the new standards.

Check out www.Go60mpg.org on Wednesday for the report.
