Wind of an Offshore Deal for Delaware If a proposed power purchase agreement in Delaware comes to fruition, a 600-megawatt offshore "wind park" may soon supply up to 17 percent of that state's electricity.
On May 22 the Delaware Public Services Commission ordered the state's biggest electricity supplier to negotiate a deal with Bluewater Wind, which has proposed to build 200 turbines -- enough to power 130,000 households -- off the southern Delaware coast. The Sierra Club was instrumental in convincing the public and state lawmakers to support the deal.
