Dear
Add your name to the petition to President Obama to support his goal of getting 1 million plug-in vehicles on the road. |
Sunday October 16th is National Plug In Day -- a day to raise awareness and support of the many benefits of electric vehicles (EVs).
President Obama has announced a bold and visionary plan to get 1 million plug-in vehicles on to US roads by 2015 -- but he needs our support to get it done.
Can you join us on National Plug In Day by adding your name to our petition supporting the President’s electric vehicles plan?
Biking, walking, and public transportation are the cleanest ways to get around. But millions of Americans will continue to drive for many years to come. The emissions from gasoline-powered vehicles are a major contributing factor to global warming pollution. We know that a switch to electric vehicles is one important way to reduce emissions and our dependence on oil.
Even on today's electricity sources, EVs are significantly cleaner than nearly all traditional vehicles (and even more so when using renewable sources of power). A few manufacturers have come out with mass-produced EVs this year, and there are at least 20 new plug-in car models expected by nearly every major auto manufacturer in the next few years.
Help us reach our goal of 50,000 petition signatures. If we reach our petition goal, I will to drive to the White House in a plug-in vehicle to deliver these signatures personally.
Thanks for all you do for the environment,
Gina Coplon-Newfield
Sierra Club Electric Vehicles Campaign Director
