1) Beats of Resilience
|
Mike Roles, RI Chapter executive committee member, has been working hard to coordinate a project whose aim is to prepare Rhode Island's urban centers for the effects of climate change. Part of this project is Beats of Resilience, a blog to move the discussion forward on this critically important issue. Please check it out and contribute to the conversation.

2) Netroots Nation in Providence!

This coming summer, one of the most powerful political events of the year will take place in our backyard: the seventh annual Netroots Nation conference.
Netroots Nation is offering a special registration rate this week for Rhode Island Sierra Club members.
The convention -- scheduled for June 7-10 in Providence -- is a time for progressives in Rhode Island and across the country to come together and build a stronger, more united movement. Join bloggers, online organizers, social justice advocates, union workers, organizational leaders, college organizers and other fierce activists for four days of thought-provoking panels, practical trainings and fun networking opportunities. You'll make new connections, learn effective organizing techniques, have a chance to share your own best practices and build stronger relationships with others working on the issues you care about. Click here (link = http://www.cvent.com/d/ddqh8q?Refid=Local)to register now for Netroots Nation for just $195 (select "standard registration" and then enter the promo code RILOCAL at the prompt).

3) New RIPTA Action Alert

Thank you to everyone who sent letters to the Governor, RIPTA Chairman, and their local legislators asking them to address the transit funding crisis during the special session to deal with the state's pension problems. Unfortunately, they didn't get round to it.
That just means they need to hear again how important it is to secure public transportations future. Tell them to get it done this coming legislative session.

Thank you for signing up for Cool CATs Weekly. You can make your community "Cool" by advocating for renewable power, green buildings and transportation choices. Visit the Cool Cities website for resources and toolkits.
Sincerely,
