Canadian pipeline company Enbridge Inc. has proposed to reverse the flow direction for a section of one of its oil pipelines in Ontario, Canada.
This proposal signals the start of a project that could transport some of the dirtiest oil on the planet – tar sands oil –through Eastern Canada and then through the existing "Trailbreaker" pipeline through New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine, where it would be shipped from Portland Harbor.
Please sign this petition by April 15th to the Canadian National Energy Board to express your opposition.
We will deliver the petition to send the strong message that Mainers do not want tar sands oil coming through our state, and we do not want the risk of toxic tar sands oil spills contaminating some of our most precious natural resources along the pipeline route, including Sebago Lake, Casco Bay, and the Androscoggin River.
Oppose this risky project by signing our petition.
Thanks for all that you do to protect Maine’s environment.
