Explore, Enjoy and Protect the Planet
"...it just so happens that there's an enormous fusion reactor safely banked a few million miles from us. It delivers more than we could ever use in just about 8 minutes. And it's wireless!" --William McDonough

Get Involved in Renewable Energy Siting! Attend a meeting or submit comments As our nation moves toward a clean energy future, it's important to ensure that renewable energy projects planned for our public lands are properly sited in order to minimize conflicts with other important resources, such as wildlife, waters, and recreation. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is seeking to do just this. They are preparing a Restoration Design Energy Project for Arizona, which identifies areas with fewer resource conflicts, including lands that have had previous disturbance such as landfills or old mines, that could be appropriate for solar and wind projects. The BLM is seeking public input on this project. Please get involved in this important issue. You can find out more information online, including how to submit comments, or you can participate in one of the following public meetings:

Support Cleanest Cheapest Energy Resource Keep energy-efficiency standards for pool pumps; stop HB2775 HB2775 swimming pool pumps; energy efficiency (Pratt) eliminates the more energy-efficient variable-speed pool pump standards for Arizona. Old, inefficient pool pumps waste electricity and are a drain on our pocketbooks. Requiring more efficient pool pumps helps Arizonans save on their electric bills and reduce energy consumption, water consumption, and air pollution. Energy efficiency is the cleanest, cheapest energy resource available. It helps us keep jobs and energy dollars in Arizona and saves us money on our bills immediately. It also saves us money in the long run by ensuring that we don’t pay for the construction of unnecessary power plants and transmission lines. The Legislature should support energy efficiency because it contributes to a strong economic environment in Arizona. Ask your Legislators to Vote NO on HB2775! |

Energy Tip O' the Day Spring has sprung, which is the perfect time to plant a tree! Shade trees can lower your cooling costs by 10%, plus they're attractive, add value to your property, help clean the air, provide habitat, reduce erosion, and always welcome a hug. In addition, many utilities -- APS, SRP, and TEP -- offer special programs or rebates! |
