Dear
While other Great Lake Governors are stepping up, Wisconsin's Scott Walker is missing the boat on offshore wind -- and Wisconsinites will pay the price for his inaction.
Last week, five states, including our neighbors in Michigan, Illinois, and Minnesota, joined the Obama Administration in an agreement that sets the stage for responsible development of clean, renewable wind energy in the Great Lakes. The health of Wisconsin's economic future depends on our ability to embrace opportunities like this.
Wisconsin should get in on this action! Tell Governor Walker to get on board.
By combining the efforts and resources of federal agencies, state governments and local communities, we can identify a path forward that brings new clean energy to the Great Lakes region while protecting and continuing to restore one of the planet's most important freshwater resources.
By refusing to be a part of this process, Governor Walker is missing an incredible opportunity to revitalize many Wisconsin businesses that are well-positioned to provide the labor, skills, and materials to develop this clean, renewable resource.
Governor Walker is turning away from what promises to be a growing economic opportunity that will provide jobs in manufacturing, metal working, ship building, construction, engineering, and many other sectors across the board.
We can move beyond coal while building Wisconsin's economy and clean energy future. By investing on large-scale renewable resources like offshore wind, we can use Wisconsin's manufacturing and engineering know-how, put people back to work, and create the turbines and transportation equipment that will generate clean energy for generations to come.
Thank you for taking action to bring clean energy and green jobs home to Wisconsin.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Feyerherm
