April 16, 2012
Dear
Fellow Sierran
Here's what's in this week's edition of CoolCATs Weekly:
1) All Aboard from Wickford
2) Lobby Day
3) The Spring Appeal
1) All Aboard from Wickford
|
The big news in transportation reform this week is next Monday's grand opening of the Wickford Junction Commuter Rail Station. The MBTA will be running trains from South County up to Providence and even Boston at affordable rates and convenient times. Good riddance aggravating congestion! Here is the brochure for service.
If you can, come out to the grand opening ceremony, which starts at 11 at the station (1011 Ten Rod Rd., NK) on April 23rd. Speakers will include: Governor Chafee, Senator Reed, USDOT Secretary LaHood, and RIDOT Director Lewis.
|
2) Lobby Day
|
A day later on next Tuesday is the environment community's annual Earth Day lobby day. On April 24th at 2:00pm, we'll be gathering in the State Room in the statehouse for an informative and meaningful day of action. If you can take a Tuesday afternoon off, please come out and have your voice heard.
Also on Thursday the 26th from 5-7pm, you can join us in celebrating our environmental activism at Trinity Brewhouse. More details to follow. Hope to see you at both great events.

3) The Spring Appeal
|
By now, you've probably seen our annual appeal letter in both the mail box and inbox. Soon you may well be receiving a call from one of our invaluable volunteers following up on the appeal. If you have any questions about what giving means to the Chapter and what options there are, please contact Nich Oliver (Chair of our new Fundraising Committee!) at giving@risierraclub.org. Or if you haven't already, give right now.
