E.Coli, ATVs, This is What "No Action" |
Dear
The Current and Jacks Fork Rivers are being mismanaged.
Illegal roads, overdevelopment, overuse by ATVs, and excessive horse traffic in the water are all taking their toll on this state gem. So what kind of action does the Missouri House of Representatives recommend to the National Park Service?
No action.
That's right, the Missouri House just passed House Concurrent Resolution 52, which "strongly urges" the NPS to adopt the "No Action" alternative for its soon to be written general management plan for the Ozark National Scenic Riverways.
If this resolution is passed by the state Senate, it will be sent to the Park Service, in order to influence the final general management plan.
Don't let this happen. Write to your Senator today!
"No Action" means continued dangerous levels of E. Coli contamination in the river. "No Action" means noisy ATVs on the gravel bars. "No Action" means erosion of the riverbanks.
"No Action" means that we break the promise we made to future generations when the Current and Jacks Fork Rivers were designated America's first National Scenic Riverways in 1964.
Thanks for all you do for the environment,
Michael Berg,
