Keystone wasn't enough. Now they're coming for your kids' crosswalks. Call your senators to protect and further our progress against Big Oil! |
Since when does "big government" mean crosswalks and school safety?
Thanks to thousands of calls and letters from activists like you, right-wing negotiators are starting to back off from including Keystone XL and coal ash in the transportation bill. But they've got two new top targets: Gutting both environmental review and funding for safe biking and walking -- which includes not just bike lanes but even school crosswalks.
If we're going to protect our progress on Keystone and stop Congress from taking away kids' crosswalks, we need to create a drumbeat of pressure, not just a single note. Can you call your senators today and let them know that you're not going away -- that you're still watching and counting on them to stand up to Big Oil and pass a clean, new transportation bill?
We need a transportation bill, but not one that puts our kids in harm's way. Call your senators today to stop Congress from taking away crosswalks and ramming through Keystone XL.
Another top target for right-wing negotiators and Big Oil is our nation's landmark environmental review law. If they get their way, this law will be gutted and the public will have no say in large transportation projects, no matter what the impact on your local community.
It's up to us to break the gridlock, protect our progress, and remind negotiators what really matters. We know we can make our voices speak every bit as loudly as Big Oil's dollars. Already, Keystone and coal ash are less likely to be included in the final bill than they were before you took action. Will you do the same thing for environmental review and safe biking and walking?
Click here for your senators' number, and call them today to demand a transportation bill that doesn't cut funding for safe biking and walking, gut environmental review, or ram through Keystone XL.
Thanks for all you do to protect our environment,
Ann Mesnikoff
Sierra Club Green Transportation Director
P.S. After you take action, be sure to forward this alert to your friends and colleagues -- five calls will have five times the impact as one!
