Dear
Victory for Clean Air: |
We won! On Wednesday, the Senate stood up for the health of mothers and children by stopping a bill that would roll back the EPA's new mercury safeguards. These critical standards will prevent the 11,000 deaths caused by mercury and other air toxics each year.
This is a huge win. Big Coal has spent millions on corporate lobbyists and misleading advertising to undo the EPA's new standards. But in the end, our grassroots pressure prevailed and the Senate voted for children's health instead. Which side did your senators end up on?
Find out if your senators voted to protect children or caved to Big Coal pressure and let them know what you think about their vote.
This victory is because of supporters like you! Thanks to your help we sent over 42,000 messages and made hundreds of calls urging Senators to stand up for our health. Together we made sure they understood Americans value public health, not dirty coal pollution.
In the next few days, many senators will hear from Big Coal. Corporate polluters will either criticize them for voting for clean air or pat them on the back for protecting industry profits. It's important that our Senators know where their constituents stand -- with clean air!
Show the Senate that the public stands with clean air, not corporate polluter profits. Take action today!
Thanks for all you do to protect the environment! Together we'll keep the momentum going for a clean energy future.
Sincerely,
Mary Anne Hitt
