Sierra Club Joins Forces with South by Southwest Eco Conference
Promotes My Piece of America online hub
(SAN FRANCISCO, CA June 26, 2012) – The Sierra Club and
South By Southwest (SXSW) Eco are excited to announce a partnership bringing
awareness to the Sierra Club’s new online hub, “My Piece of America.” The new site is part of a larger campaign by
the Sierra Club to permanently protect public lands in today’s technology-driven
age. Exploring, enjoying and protecting
the planet is more important than ever and SXSW is the perfect partner to draw
attention to this old-school fight in a new age.
SXSW Eco takes place Wednesday, October 3 - Friday,
October 5, 2012 at the AT&T Conference Center in Austin, Texas. The Sierra Club will have a robust presence
at the event, participating in the Eco Exhibition, Eco Connect and, through a
fun, interactive activation attendees will be able to spread a message
about their own favorite piece of America.
The Sierra Club sponsored the inaugural SXSW Eco conference in 2011.
The “My Piece of America” website is uniquely built to not
only allow users to upload and view content of their favorite special places,
but also to connect with local protection campaigns on the ground and ways to
take action to help conserve those places for future generations to enjoy. With trip giveaways, beautiful photos,
personal stories and action opportunities the site will provide an
inspirational and engaging invitation to be a part of America’s lands legacy.
With a focus on the finding positive solutions to the
challenges facing the environment, economy and civil society, SXSW Eco offers
the opportunity for professionals in business, government, non-profits and
academia to participate in provocative panel discussions, listen to innovative
keynote speakers and network with thought-provoking people.
