Take Action: Tell Your Senators to Pass a Clean Transportation Bill -- Read more. Take Action: Tell Your Senators to Pass a Clean Transportation Bill

Unless Congress acts by June 30, our nation's transportation funding law will expire. The Senate has passed a bipartisan transportation bill that would begin to reduce our addiction to oil by increasing access to safe, convenient transportation choices like public transit, biking, and walking, while also improving our current system. Unfortunately, House Republicans are tacking on unrelated polluter priorities and demanding that the Senate roll back core transportation provisions. At stake are 2.9 million American jobs and much needed certainty for investing in our nation's transportation system.

Tell your senators not to roll back environmental protections and transportation reforms!

On Tuesday the Sierra Club and a coalition of groups delivered more than two million comments to the Environmental Protection Agency in support of the agency's carbon pollution standards. These standards will help clean up and modernize the way we power the country and prevent life-threatening air pollution like toxic mercury, dirty soot, and the smog that triggers asthma attacks.

Sierra Club members and supporters generated more than 341,000 of those comments. Congratulations!

Congratulations to Sierra Club's Sandy Bahr for being named "Top Watchdog for Arizona" by the Arizona Capitol Times. Bahr is Sierra Club Arizona's Director and said she was surprised by the nod.

In the end, Bahr says it's about protecting state residents from big polluters: "What we are working for is very important," she says. "It's the place we live, the air we breathe, the public lands we all enjoy. It’s a big part of what makes Arizona special."

On Monday the Sierra Club unveiled a beautiful new website dedicated to showing off the beautiful places in America. Because some of America's most amazing places -- from the striking red rock deserts of the Southwest to the cool and leafy city park you take your kids to -- are under threat from oil and gas drilling or climate change, we need your help!

Tell President Obama to protect these wild places by picking a special place on the website's map of America and taking action!
