Dear
Act now to stop tar sands oil in Maine |
The Canadian oil and gas corporation Enbridge wants to pump the dirtiest oil on the planet – tar sands oil – from Canada through Maine to Portland Harbor, where it would be shipped to refineries for export to international markets.
Act now to prevent this from happening.
As a new Sierra Club co-authored report indicates, the pipeline goes through many of Maine's most precious and vulnerable natural resources, including Androscoggin River, Crooked River, Casco Bay, and Sebago Lake, the source of drinking water for greater Portland. A pipeline spill into any of these special places would be catastrophic, both environmentally and economically.
We can't let this happen. Please sign our petition opposing this project to send the strong message that Mainers do not want the risk of toxic tar sands oil spills.
Thanks for all that you do to protect Maine’s environment.
Sincerely,
Glen Brand
Maine Chapter Director
