Dear
Stop Tar Sands Oil Coming to Maine Join Us at the Rally! 12:00 p.m., July 29 Burlington, VT |
Please mark your calendar and plan to join other concerned Mainers at a peaceful march and rally at noon on Sunday, July 29 in Burlington, Vermont to voice our opposition to the Enbridge Corporation's plan to pump the world's most dangerous oil through New England to Maine. We will be providing a charter, round trip bus from Maine to Burlington for those who want to join us.
The action will take place during the annual meeting of the New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers in Burlington. Together, we'll send the strong message to our elected officials that Mainers and other New England residents do not want the risks of toxic tar sands oil spilling and polluting our communities, rivers, lakes, and ocean.
WHAT: Tar-sands free New England Protest March/Rally. Events include:
- First Nation speak-out
- Living Earth drum circle
- Spiral Dance, followed by a
- Human Oil Spill-In. Bring hand-made signs, and wear or bring black oil spill solidarity clothing or outer shell with living Earth colors underneath.
WHEN: 12:00 p.m., Sunday, July 29
WHERE: Burlington, Vermont
We'll be sending out more information on the event soon, including details about the bus from Maine to Burlington. We plan to coordinate bus stops along the route, as we did for our November Tar Sands trip to DC.
Thanks and I hope to see you in Burlington on July 29.
In solidarity,
Glen Brand
Sierra Club Maine Director
