Dear
Fellow Sierran
Here's what's in this week's edition of CoolCATs Weekly:
1) Volunteer on the Political Committee
2) Because It's Urgent
3) For the gardener with limited space
1) Volunteer on the Political Committee
|
The primaries are less than two months away and the general election less than four. If the Rhode Island Chapter is going to have an impact on the local political scene, we need our political committee to get active post haste. Potential activities you can participate in or lead include determining endorsements, writing press releases about endorsements, knocking on doors and making calls in support of endorsed candidates, and more. Sign up here.

2) Because It's Urgent
|
It's enticing to dismiss getting involved in politics, because they seem hopelessly broken. Such an attitude will, of course, only reinforce the lack of accountability in our political system at the worst possible moment. We are on a pace to have the hottest year on record (again!), and the arctic ice melt is on pace to be worse than ever. Please read and watch this disturbing news from thinkprogress and reconsider making an impact in the coming elections, because we aren't going to be able to mitigate climate change without immediate action by our policy makers.

3) For the gardener with limited space
|
Growing your own food is smart and in vogue, but many of us simply don't have the space to do it conveniently. Well, check out this innovative idea of turning a pallet (you should be able to find one lying around for free) into a vertical garden. No more excuses.

Thank you for signing up for Cool CATs Weekly. You can make your community "Cool" by advocating for renewable power, green buildings and transportation choices. Visit the Cool Cities website for resources and toolkits.
Sincerely,
