Speak Up for Clean Air! Please attend a hearing tomorrow! After 35 years, the Environmental Protection Agency at last announced implementation of protections that will lead to reductions of dangerous pollutants from three of Arizona's dirtiest coal plants -- Apache, Cholla, and Coronado. These standards result from 1977 revisions of the Clean Air Act. However, the federal government has missed several court-ordered deadlines to implement the standards, endangering public health and negatively affecting national landmarks. At long last, action is finally being taken. Please join us to speak up in favor of cleaning up our air! Phoenix residents, the meeting is TOMORROW!

Attend a Workshop on Integrated Resource Planning Arizona's electric utilities that are regulated by the Arizona Corporation Commission are required to engage in Integrated Resource Planning (IRP), which outlines how each utility will meet its energy requirements in an efficient, cost-effective, and responsible manner. As part of this plan, the utilities must identify how they will comply with demand response, energy efficiency, and the state's Renewable Energy Standard, as well as how they will consider other resources, such as water use or toxic emissions. We encourage you to get involved, to learn more about this process, and to ask that utilities act responsibly with regards to our precious resources and to develop plans that increase renewable energy resources and include strong energy efficiency provisions. Please mark your calendar for this important meeting!
