Clean Energy Business Leaders - Our guest panel will be member Rick Hunter of Microgrid Energy, member Dane Glueck of StraightUp Solar, and Cindy Bambini of Brightergy. We will also hear from members who have solar panels installed on their homes. If you have installed a solar panel on your home, please contact Michael Berg and plan come to this meeting to let other members know about your experience.

News from the Trail Maintenance Volunteers
On the weekend of September 28, 29 and 30 we will join the EMG Annual Fall Celebration Campout at Hawn State Park. Free camping Friday through Sunday at the Scout Camp. On Saturday, we will meet at the park office at 8:00 a.m. with our lunches, drinking water, work gloves, sturdy footwear and rain gear. All tools will be furnished. There will be a week long trail maintenance event on the Blair Creek Section of the Ozark Trail from October 20 through October 27. You are welcome to join us for the whole week or any part of the week. Free primitive camping at Himont Location in the Roger Pryor Pioneer Backcountry. Amenities at this site are two picnic tables and a pit toilet. All meals are furnished. You will need sturdy footwear, work gloves and rain gear. Service Outing at Hawn
We'll be going down to Hawn State Park for a Service Outing on Wednesday, October 10 and Thursday, October 11. We may be helping with restoration work in La Motte Sandstone Barrens Natural Area or we may be helping with fence removal in the Wild Area. Either way, we'll be contributing to the natural beauty and integrety of one of our favorite Missouri state parks. Free camping Wednesday night. Yes. we will be sending out a paper newsletter next month. To save mailing expenses we depend on volunteers to tape and label the 3,800 newsletters. Trivia Night Fundraiser Update
The Eastern Missouri Group is hosting a trivia night and silent auction on Saturday, October 27, at The Heights community center in Richmond Heights. Registration, @ $160 per table of eight, will begin early next month.

Occupy Monsanto: GMO Free Midwest
Occupy Monsanto is a global day of action to be held on September 17. All across the world, there will be events and demonstrations regarding Monsanto's increasing control of food and its continued aggressive development of GMO (Genetically Modified Organism) technology. Many are voicing demands that food containing GMOs be labeled.
The World Headquarters of Monsanto is in St. Louis. Safe Food Action, the Gateway Green Alliance and the Organic Consumers Association are hosting a two-day conference, September 16-17 to participate in the discussion of GMO technology and the larger issue of food safety.
Please join us for a conference and two days of education and direct action regarding GMOs and Monsanto. Learn more about GMO's effect on human health, the environment, the economy and the use of GMOs to dominate the globe. There may be opportunities to interact with the Monsanto family.
Green Time TV: Should the Global Food Supply Be Genetically Engineered?

Saturday, September 29 & Monday, October 1: Marti Crouch lecture on "Beyond Terminator Technology" addressed differences between traditional crops, hybridization and genetic engineering.

Operation Clean Stream
It's not too late to call George about helping clean "our" section of the Meramec River from Pacific Palisades to Allenton.
Enjoy the fun on Saturday, August 25, as we search for treasures along the river. Join the contest for most tires found or most unusual object. We will have a limited number of outfitter canoes to use for the day, so if you don't have a canoe, you can still help. Relax at the picnic following the clean up. Another Volunteer and Learning Opportunity
On Saturday September 15, join us in recognition of World Water Monitoring Day. We will investigate a high-quality stream in a wooded niche near expanding Eureka. Our stream team will monitor Fox Creek and send the data to the Department of Natural Resources. At two locations, we will test for dissolved oxygen and other chemical parameters. River Soundings II Symposium
River Soundings will be held on September 14 and 15, 2012. This conference, presented by Greenway Network, will again bring speakers from nonprofit organizations and government agencies working on our rivers to the Forest Park Visitors Center. The management of the Missouri River and the USFW Big Muddy Refuge of will be among the subjects discussed at the conference
