Tell President Obama:
Protect Wyoming's Wolves!

Grey wolves
Take Action 1

Dear Friend,

We have just a few days to save wolves in Wyoming from being hunted and killed without mercy.

Right now, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is on the verge of finalizing a deal with the state of Wyoming that would allow wolves in nearly 90% of the state to be killed by any means whatsoever -- wolves, including pups, could be shot on sight, trapped, or gunned down from low-flying planes at any time, for any reason, without a license.

But President Obama can stop this from happening. Tell him to protect wolves from this horrible fate.

These amazing icons of the Rockies have been struggling to survive for over a century. They've been subject to ruthless hunting and had their habitat destroyed, leaving them isolated and threatened. They were considered an Endangered Species for years.

Thanks to conservation efforts, wolves in the Rockies are now making a comeback. There are now more than 300 wolves in Wyoming, and the population is growing.

But this deal would reverse this trend, removing Endangered Species protections for wolves and protecting only the wolves in and around a few protected areas like Yellowstone National Park. Wolves everywhere else in the state could be ruthlessly killed for any reason.

We know this because we’ve seen it happen before. When Wyoming wolves lost federal protection briefly a few years ago, wolves were chased by hunters on snowmobiles for miles until they could no longer run, and then shot.

We have one last opportunity to defend Wyoming’s wolves. The deal is just days away from being finalized – tell President Obama that wolves need protection from unregulated hunting.

We need a plan to manage Wyoming's wolf population. But it should be a plan that protects wolves, and uses the best science possible to maintain the delicate balance of Wyoming’s wild habitats -- not a plan that allows open season on wolves.

Thanks for all you do to protect the environment.

Sincerely,

Sarah Hodgdon Signature
