House Republicans are again whittling away at fundamental health and environmental laws to please dirty polluters. Their latest push is a package of bills (H.R. 3409) that will gut the Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act -- basically exempting the coal industry from complying with clean air and water protections.

Tell your member of Congress to stand up for clean air and water by opposing these bills.

Even after you take into account the electricity used to charge them, EVs are almost always the cleanest cars around. That's why the health of our economy and climate depends in part on governors taking administrative action to support public EV-charging stations and a switch to EVs in state fleets.

Tell your governor to support more infrastructure for electric vehicles in your state.

By turning their backs on the pump, oil spills, and tailpipe emissions, owners of these vehicles are taking a huge step toward moving America beyond oil. The Sierra Club is joining Plug In America to celebrate the day at free events in over 60 cities across the country.

Hundreds of people gathered in Washington, D.C., last week to rally against mountaintop-removal coal mining.

The Sierra Club joined EarthJustice and many other groups to remember long-time activist Larry Gibson and to call upon the Obama administration to put an end to this destructive mining practice in Appalachia.
